Senior ADPR Student Talks Summer Internships in a Pandemic
As a result of attending the annual ADPR New York City networking trip in January 2020, Patrick Boyd landed a once-in-a-lifetime internship working in account management for FCB Health, a healthcare advertising company with a thriving internship program.
Typically, FCB Health’s internship program brings opportunity for the interns to work in the heart of New York City, with workshops, networking opportunities and working on various advertising campaign projects. However, the rise of COVID-19 cases caused FCB Health to make the tough decision to move the internship to remote working.

AD Student Amber Wilson, designsensory intern
We are pleased to highlight Advertising Senior Amber Wilson, who is a summer intern with designsensory.
Amber was spotlighted at designsensory, along with two fellow interns for her great work. Wilson is fulfilling her passion for the advertising world through her current internship assignments such as: working closely with clients, setting up meetings and interfacing with vendors.
Wilson will graduate with a B.S. in Advertising in December. We look forward to her many more accomplishments.

Advertising Students, Study Abroad in London
Advertising Students Study “Across the Pond” with Professor Roxanne Hovland
Dr. Roxanne Hovland and eight students including Catie Jaffe, Jacob Burns, Mara Robinette, Marley Patten, Emily Stroud, Kendall, Victoria Marrine and Victoria Ozier completed a travel study tour “Advertising in London” in May 2016.
Students visited London-based advertising/marketing agencies; the town of Windsor and Windsor Castle; Stonehenge and Bath; a design museum; Kensington Palace; Wimbledon; Warner Brothers’ Harry Potter exhibit to better understand British advertising.
While in London, the students completed a final project advertising and marketing plan to introduce Fritos® to Londoners.

2016 Distinguished Alumni Scholar Award from the University of Georgia, Eric Haley
Professor Eric Haley is the recipient of the 2016 Distinguished Alumni Scholar Award from the University of Georgia, Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. Eric holds three degrees (BS, MS, and Ph.D.) from the University of Georgia.
Eric Haley is an award winning teacher and researcher. While he primarily teaches graduate and undergraduate advertising courses, Haley has taught the College’s core doctoral classes. His research interests include issues of advertising and society, advocacy advertising and account planning.

All About Steven Woods
Steven is a Knoxville, TN native and is currently a junior at UT.
He came into the University as an undecided major, but knew he wanted to pursue a career in either Communications or Business based on his high school classes and clubs he participated in. He spent his first year meeting with professors, advisors, and career services before finding out what he wanted to do with his life. Advertising Trip to New York City
Advertising faculty and students gear up to travel next week to New York City. These lucky advertising students will be spending the week exploring NYC, and meeting with major agencies.
In fact, a few students can even gain an internship at Young & Rubicam for summer.
In hopes of donations, the Advertising Club submitted a video to raise money for their annual trip. After raising over $2,000, the trip is well on it’s way to being completely funded.

Our first Advertising Student Spotlight goes to Joey Hathaway, from Glasgow, Missouri.
Hathaway is a Senior and pursuing a career in account management within an advertising agency. From a young age Hathaway has been interested in advertisements placed in magazines and commercials.
