Tombras School students travel to Washington State to attend PRSSA Leadership Assembly
Two Tombras School of Advertising and Public Relations students had the opportunity to visit Seattle to expand their leadership skills at the 2024 Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) Leadership Assembly. Juniors Drue Hamlet and Isabella Sucheski represented the Volunteer Chapter of PRSSA as the current vice president and PR director, respectively.
During their trip, they were able to network with peers across the country and grow as chapter leaders. PRSSA is one of the leading professional organizations serving the public relations and communications community that helps chapter members stay on top of evolving trends.
Hamlet said, “Networking trips, such as the National Assembly, gave me knowledge from other chapter leaders across the globe on how to improve PRSSA from a local level. These trips have given me the skill set and confidence to go into my presidency with PRSSA next year. PRSSA is truly an amazing organization that you get a first-hand look at with trips like the National Assembly and the ICON conference.”
While there, Hamlet also voted in the 2024–2025 National Committee Elections, and she appreciated the opportunity to “have a voice in the election process.”
Both Hamlet and Sucheski said being a part of the Tombras School and one of its student organizations has allowed them unique opportunities such as this one.
“Being a part of PRSSA has given me real-world experiences and networking opportunities that I would not have been able to access otherwise. It has solidified that I want public relations to be my career, and showed me how to make this a reality,” Sucheski explained.
“Truly, I am so grateful for this school and the opportunities it has provided me with. I have been able to attend four trips with the school so far and I am so excited and hopeful to see what comes out of these future endeavors,” Hamlet added.
The two said that this trip has allowed them to collaborate with other chapters and come up with new ideas as they prepare for the upcoming semester.
“Meeting other PRSSA members who are as passionate about this organization as I am was extremely inspiring and motivating. My favorite part of the weekend was connecting with other student leaders from around the country,” Sucheski said.
