Combined B.S./M.S. Concentration in Advertising & Public Relations

Whether you’re looking to launch your career, gain additional skills, or find a new path in the industry, the 4+1 B.S./M.S. program can work for you.

Our program is designed for undergraduate students that are majoring in advertising or public relations at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Students can gain an M.S. degree with one more year of coursework beyond their undergraduate program.

Admission to the 4+1 Master’s Program

Juniors may apply to be a dual track undergraduate and graduate student. If accepted into the graduate school and the program, students can take graduate-level courses in their last 30 hours of undergraduate coursework.

Seniors who have not applied to the program yet, may request to take coursework for graduate credit. Students must still apply to the program and be accepted by both the graduate school and the ADPR graduate admissions committee.

Recent Graduates who were advertising or public relations majors and who graduated in the past three years may apply.

Applicants must meet UT Graduate School academic requirements and apply online to the Office of Graduate Admissions.

When can I start taking graduate courses?

  • Seniors in their last 30 hours of the undergraduate program may apply to the program to take graduate courses.
  • Students may take up to 9 credit hours of graduate coursework in their senior year.
  • Students may not take the same course for both the undergraduate program and the M.S. concentration.
